Oyo moves to end malaria scourge

Bode Akinbode, Ibadan
Oyo State Government on Thursday said proactive measures would be put in place to ensure that malaria does not remain a burden to the people of the state.
Oyo State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Bode Ladipo, stated this at a two-day retreat organised by the state government in conjunction with President’s Malaria Initiative for State (PMI-S) for health executives and other stakeholders.
While declaring open the retreat, Dr. Ladipo said that the state was second to none in the South West in the intervention to eradicate malaria.
He further disclosed that in Oyo State, malaria was no longer the leading cause of juvenile deaths.
The health commissioner said this was because the state had been on its toes to ensure the scourge was reduced to the barest minimum.
