Eno commends youth participation during Akwa Ibom projects inspection

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has concluded a two-day inspection of projects across the state, expressing delight at the active involvement of youths at various sites.
Speaking with correspondents at the ARISE Resort, the last stop of the tour, the governor said the exercise was guided by the “Management By Walking Around” (MBWA) philosophy, which emphasizes physical supervision and on-the-spot assessment.
Eno explained that the visits allowed the government and contractors to make inputs and adjustments to ensure the projects meet the needs of the people. He noted that commissioners, contractors, and delivery advisers all had firsthand views of the progress.
The governor commended Akwa Ibom youths working as engineers, artisans, and laborers at the sites, noting that some projects were even managed by female civil engineers. “Everywhere we went, young men and women were actively working. This gives me joy because we are bringing out our youths,” he said.
He urged young people to embrace available opportunities and shun a sense of entitlement. “Government will not bring money to anybody at home. But for every young man and woman ready to work, Akwa Ibom provides that opportunity,” he added.
Eno highlighted the Okobo Road project, abandoned for 16 years despite being handled by five contractors, which is now two months from completion. He said his administration was determined to deliver projects that serve the general interest of the people.
“Our campaign promise was good governance and transparency. We are providing enabling environments and awarding contracts — from the Aviation Village and Medical City to nearly 400 housing units. These projects are my reward to Akwa Ibom people,” the governor said.
Among the projects inspected were the ARISE Senior Citizens Center in Ikono/Ibiono Ibom, CNG Bus Terminal in Itu, flood control works, Uyo Village Road construction, Judiciary Quarters, International Convention Center, Arise Shopping City, Ibom Model Farm, Agricultural Equipment Leasing Facility, projects at Victor Attah International Airport, and the Executive/Legislative Quarters at Dakadda Luxury Estate.
