The Nigeria Schools Sports Federation (NSSF) U-15 Championship concluded on Monday in Abuja, showcasing impressive young football talents. Enugu State emerged as champions in the male category, while Bayelsa State secured victory in the female category.
Organized by the NSSF with strategic support from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the tournament featured teams from multiple states, including Adamawa, Niger, Kano, the F.C.T., Enugu, and Bayelsa. Beyond competition, the event served as a crucial platform for fostering athletic excellence, sportsmanship, and meaningful connections among participants.
This championship has greater significance than immediate accolades, positioning itself as a key avenue for identifying and nurturing Nigeria’s future football stars. In collaboration with the NFF, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) emphasizes the tournament’s role in scouting and developing promising players for future continental competitions.
Alhaji Mohammed Adebayo Ameenu, special assistant to the NFF General Secretary, was present at the event and praised all participants for their outstanding performances throughout the tournament. Ameenu shared that select players who distinguished themselves would be invited to join national teams.
“The NFF President takes great pride in all participants who showcased exceptional skill and sportsmanship,” stated Ameenu. “Those identified by our scouts will have significant opportunities to represent Nigeria on the continental stage.”
