Erelu Fayemi lends voice to eradicating violence against women in politics

Wife of Ekiti State Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi has given her support to eradicating violence against women in politics.
Erelu Fayemi gave her support when she received members of Stop Violence Against Women in Politics and their ambassador, Ini Edo in Lagos on Saturday.
The meeting, according to Erelu Fayemi, also discussed how to mitigate hate speech, vote-buying and mobilise the populace to vote on election day.
“I received the teams from The Stop Violence Against Women in Politics (Stop VAWIP) Campaign; Vote not Fight (VNF) Southwest campaign, led by The New Generation Girls and Women Development Initiative (NIGAWD). The team had the Stop-VAWIP National Ambassador, Nollywood Actress Ini Edo, and the representatives of their donors.
“,” The Stop VAWIP campaign is a project implemented by Balm in Gilead Foundation (BIGIF).
“One issue discussed is the need to amplify the Vote Not Fight Campaign by speaking against youth-incited/perpetrated violence, hate speech, vote-buying, and political apathy.
“We also discussed setting up a situation room on election day to provide rapid response services to women, complementing the efforts of the State Sexual Assault Referral Centre (Moremi Clinic) by Stop VAWIP and her partners,” she said.
Mrs. Fayemi attended the meeting with some female members of the State Executive Council.
