Eshinlokun’s career built on progressive public service, says Media Office

The Media Office of the Senator representing Lagos Central Senatorial District, Sen. Wasiu Sanni Esinlokun, has described his political career as a progression from grassroots administration to legislative leadership and national service.

In a statement issued on Friday, titled “Wasiu Esinlokun: Stewardship of Passion, Impact and Excellence,” the Media Office traced his career from his tenure as Executive Chairman of Lagos Island Local Government to the Lagos State House of Assembly and the National Assembly.

It said Esinlokun served as council chairman for two terms between 2008 and 2014, describing the experience as the foundation of his understanding of grassroots governance. He later served as Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly from January 2015 to February 2023.

According to the statement, his experience across the executive and legislative arms of government provided him with a broad understanding of policy formulation, administration, representation and oversight before his election to the Senate in 2023.

The Media Office highlighted constituency initiatives, including a 2026 scholarship programme for 300 tertiary students, entrepreneurship training in barbing, photography and confectionery, and the reported facilitation of an ultra-modern X-ray machine for General Hospital, Lagos, in collaboration with the Nigerian Ports Authority.

As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Marine Transport, the statement said Esinlokun had engaged issues involving maritime institutions, water transportation and Nigeria’s emerging blue economy. It recalled his July 2026 call for clearer legal frameworks defining the responsibilities of the federal, state and local governments in the sector.

The statement also cited his oversight visits to maritime agencies, where he emphasised transparency, accountability and efficiency, as well as his reported appointment to the Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council in April 2026 and emergence in July as National Director-General of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Independent Campaign Group.

Describing his political philosophy as “passion, impact and excellence,” the Media Office said Esinlokun’s journey from Lagos Island Local Government to the State Assembly and Senate represented a continuing evolution of public responsibility, with his record to be measured by outcomes in education, healthcare, empowerment, infrastructure and policy.
