Every Nigerian child deserves safety — First Lady on Anti-Drug Abuse Day

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has reaffirmed her commitment to safeguarding the nation’s youth from the dangers of drug abuse and organized crime.
In a message delivered on Wednesday to commemorate the 2025 International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the First Lady emphasized that “every child in Nigeria deserves to grow up in a safe and nurturing environment, free from the devastating grip of drug abuse and the threats of organized crime.”
Her remarks come amid growing concern over the impact of substance abuse and criminal networks on young Nigerians, particularly in urban and high-risk communities.
“The evidence is clear: when we invest in prevention, we protect lives,” she stated, echoing this year’s global theme: “The Evidence is Clear: Invest in Prevention. Break the Cycle. #StopOrganizedCrime.”
Senator Tinubu called on leaders, parents, teachers, and communities across Nigeria to renew their collective commitment to protecting the nation’s future by promoting awareness, strengthening family support, and positively engaging young people.
“Our responsibility is to positively engage our youth, support our families, and raise awareness. Together, we can build a healthier, safer, and more resilient Nigeria,” she said.
