Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Shehu Dikko, emphasized the need for all sports in Nigeria to receive equal attention to promote holistic development across the country’s sports ecosystem.

Speaking in an interview on Arise TV on Saturday, Dikko reiterated that the time has come for sports beyond football to garner the same level of attention and passion. He stressed that this shift is crucial for the balanced growth of Nigeria’s entire sports sector.

“We need to channel the passion we have for football to help other sports grow. Every sport should have the opportunity to develop and operate effectively within its own framework,” Dikko said, highlighting the importance of balanced support and strategic development.

Dikko affirmed that the NSC is dedicated to nurturing a broad spectrum of sports and federations. “There’s no need to worry; we’re committed to ensuring the comprehensive development of all sports within the ecosystem. Every sport will receive its fair share of support and resources to thrive,” he stated, reflecting the NSC’s commitment to inclusive sports growth.

He further highlighted that the success and lessons learned from Nigeria’s football sector can serve as a blueprint to accelerate growth in other sports, ultimately creating a stronger, more diverse athletic landscape. “The experience gained from football will serve as a springboard for the development of other sports,” Dikko added.

This strategic approach embodies the NSC’s vision to foster a well-rounded sports environment where all federations can flourish, contributing to national pride and economic advancement.
