A former chieftain of the African Democratic Congress in Ondo State, Oluwatosin Ayeni, has been elected as the state chairman of the newly registered Democratic Leadership Alliance.

Ayeni emerged through a consensus arrangement at the party’s congress held on Thursday in Akure, reflecting what party leaders described as a unified decision among members.

Announcing the outcome, the Chairman of the Congress Committee, Oladimeji Oluwafisayo, confirmed Ayeni’s emergence at the event, noting that the process was peaceful and transparent.

Similarly, Barrister Jerry Babaleye was selected as the party’s State Legal Adviser during the exercise, alongside other officials who were chosen to steer the affairs of the party.

In his acceptance speech, Ayeni expressed appreciation to party members for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to justify the mandate entrusted to him.

“I appreciate the trust you have placed in me,” he said, urging Nigerians to join the platform and register, while emphasising the party’s commitment to producing credible leaders capable of moving the country forward.

Furthermore, Ayeni, who previously served as the ADC’s liaison officer with the Independent National Electoral Commission in the state, assured members that the party would prioritise credible candidates in future elections.

Also speaking, the Secretary of the Congress Committee, Okechukwu Ibeh, described Ayeni’s emergence as divinely orchestrated and expressed optimism about the party’s growth, while officials of INEC, led by the state Administrative Secretary, Adenike Tadese, monitored the congress.
