Ex-Kwara APC chairman Bolarinwa declares for 2027 governorship race

Former Kwara State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa (BOB), has formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election, presenting himself as a tested grassroots politician with the experience, capacity and unifying influence to lead the state into its next phase of development.
In a message to party elders, stakeholders, traditional rulers and religious leaders across Kwara State, Bolarinwa said his decision is anchored on a lifelong commitment to service and the need to consolidate progressive governance.
“My decision to run is not driven by personal ambition, but by a deep sense of responsibility built on years of service at the grassroots, legislative and national levels,” he said.
Bolarinwa noted that his political journey—from Councillor to two-term Chairman of Lagos Mainland Local Government, and later a two-term member of the House of Representatives—has prepared him for the task ahead.
“These experiences have given me a practical understanding of governance—from the community level to national policy-making—and equipped me to deliver results for the people of Kwara State,” he added.
He also highlighted his tenure as APC Chairman in Kwara State, during which he led the party to a historic victory in the 2019 general elections through the “O To Ge” movement.
“The ‘O To Ge’ movement was not just a political slogan; it was a collective demand for change. It showed what is possible when leadership is united, focused and people-driven,” Bolarinwa stated.
Beyond party politics, he referenced his service as Chairman of the Governing Board of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), describing it as a period that broadened his leadership capacity.
