Ex Lagos Deputy Governor highlights impact of community associations to local development

A former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Mr Sarah Sosan, has highlighted the significance of community associations in driving local development.
Sosan served as Deputy Governor from 2007 to 2011 in the administration of Mr Babatunde Fashola.
Speaking at the Annual General Meeting of Ikorodu Community Development Committee (CDC), Sosan explained that CDCs were important to grassroots development, adding that they foster infrastructural and social progress in the state.
She added that the community associations assist the government with critical information for decision-making.
“The passion for developing your communities and facilitating infrastructural projects through government representatives shows your strong commitment to progress,” she said.
“I believe that one of the reasons my boss, Mr. Babatunde Fashola gave a legal face to the CDC was because of these contributions. Since then, things have been working well.
“As a politician, I understand that no matter what we do, if the CDAs are not involved, we have not done well. The CDC owns the grassroots.
“They provide us with information on where to go and what to do to improve people’s lives. You have become a crucial part of grassroots administration and a tool for inclusiveness, ensuring that no one is left out,” Sosan added.
