Ex-lawmaker denies winning APC primary in Ibadan North

By Adejayan Gbenga –

Former Oyo state lawmaker, Olusegun Olaleye, has denied reports claiming he won the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for Ibadan North Federal Constituency.

The reports, which spread widely across online platforms, alleged that Olaleye was declared winner of the primary election scheduled for Sunday, July 20. However, the election was disrupted and did not take place.

In a statement personally signed on Monday, Olaleye described the reports as false and misleading, insisting he neither participated in any declaration nor authorized the claims.

“I have been made aware of news circulating online suggesting that I declared myself winner of the APC primaries in Ibadan North,” he said. “Let me make it clear that I had no part in such declaration, and neither I nor my media team released any such information.”

He said the reports were the handiwork of mischief makers attempting to create confusion and pitch him against the party’s leadership.

Olaleye reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC and clarified that no official result had been announced since the primary was inconclusive.

“The exercise did not take place, and as it stands, the process remains inconclusive. The national leadership of our party is still in consultation with relevant stakeholders to find a resolution,” he stated.

He urged his supporters to remain calm, exercise patience, and await official communication from the party.
