Ex-Osun SSG Adeoti backs Adeleke’s second-term bid, defects to Accord Party

Former Secretary to the Osun State Government, Moshood Adeoti, has declared support for Governor Ademola Adeleke’s second-term bid and announced his defection to the Accord Party alongside thousands of his loyalists across the state.
The declaration was made at a town hall meeting held on Tuesday in Osogbo, which drew members of Adeoti’s political structure and grassroots coordinators from across Osun State. Organisers said the meeting had representation from all polling units and the state’s 332 wards.
Adeoti’s endorsement comes about two months after he stepped back from active politics following internal disagreements within the Omoluabi/ADC political bloc, marking his return to the political scene on a new platform.
Addressing supporters, Adeoti said the decision followed extensive consultations with stakeholders and followers across the state. He explained that the collective endorsement of Adeleke was informed by what he described as visible transformation and developmental progress recorded in Osun in the past three years.
He added that the current administration remains closely connected to the people, noting that state officials are home-based and live among the citizens they serve, a factor he said has improved responsiveness and public trust in governance.
Reaffirming his political philosophy, Adeoti stressed his commitment to grassroots leadership and local development, declaring his belief in the principle of “Osun for Osun”.
During the meeting, Hon. Kehinde Morenikeji moved a motion for Adeoti and his supporters to formally join the Accord Party. The motion was seconded by Kehinde Ogaala and unanimously adopted by those present.
Speaking at the event, the Special Adviser to Governor Ademola Adeleke on Political Matters, Hon. Muniru Raji, described Adeoti as a dependable leader with strong grassroots acceptance across Osun State. He urged supporters to remain united and committed, describing Adeoti as “a trustworthy leader worthy of followership”.
