A former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Honourable Abdulganiyu Oseni, popularly known as Aiyesoro, has passed away.

Oseni, who represented the Irepo/Olorunsogo State Constituency, served in the 8th Oyo Assembly during the administration of the late Governor Abiola Ajimobi. He was elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015.

The news of his death was confirmed by a family member in the early hours of Tuesday. The cause of death, however, has not been officially disclosed.

Sources close to the family revealed that the former lawmaker had been battling health challenges in recent months before his condition reportedly worsened.

Oseni was described by colleagues as a dedicated public servant who worked tirelessly for the development of his constituency during his tenure in the House.

Reacting to the sad development, a federal lawmaker representing Oyo, Hon. Prince Olaide Lateef, expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the former legislator.

In a brief condolence message, Lateef wrote: “It is devastating news. Who are we to question Your actions and decisions, oh God? May Almighty God forgive your shortcomings, Hon. Abdulganiyu Aiyesoro.”
