Ex-PDP heavyweights in Rivers declare support for Tinubu-Fubara reveals

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has announced that several prominent former leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and known supporters of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar have resolved to support President Bola Tinubu.

The political figures include former PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus; former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Austin Opara; former Rivers State Governor, Celestine Omehia; and former Minister of Transport, Abiye Sekibo.

Fubara made the disclosure on Thursday during the New Year banquet organised by the Rivers State Government at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Port Harcourt.

Acknowledging the presence of the political heavyweights at the event, the governor said their decision effectively dispelled allegations and political blackmail suggesting that he was aligning with individuals working against the interests of President Tinubu.

Fubara reaffirmed that he remains steadfast despite political challenges, attributing his confidence and resilience to his faith in God.

According to him, it is on the strength of that faith that the purpose of governance in Rivers State would be fully realised.

The governor dismissed claims that he was merely “barking,” stating that he clearly understands the political landscape and has put in place mechanisms to successfully navigate the process and achieve his administration’s objectives.

Quoting Julius Caesar, Fubara added that only those who lack understanding resort to “barking” when they are unable to interpret unfolding events.

He further declared that 2026 would mark what he described as the “complete liberation” of Rivers State, assuring residents that all the goals set by his administration would be achieved.
