Ex-Rivers HoS spreading falsehoods under pressure – Fubara

Suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has accused George Nwaeke, the state’s former Head of Service, of being “compromised” and “coerced” into making false allegations against him.

Nwaeke, who resigned on Tuesday, alleged that Fubara was fueling the political crisis in the state and had held meetings with militants to encourage the destruction of oil pipelines.

Reacting in a statement on X (formerly Twitter) early Saturday, Fubara dismissed the claims as “laughable,” stating that he had never engaged in secret political dealings or incited violence.

“It is absurd to suggest that a Head of Service would be privy to high-level political meetings, let alone be part of alleged discussions with Bala Mohammed and militants,” Fubara said.

He reiterated his commitment to peace in Rivers State, urging the public to ignore Nwaeke’s statements, which he described as a deliberate attempt to discredit him and undermine ongoing reconciliation efforts.
