Excitement as Lagos fitness enthusiasts win Sanwo-Olu Lagos Active Challenge prizes

Jubilation swept through Lagos as fitness enthusiasts celebrated their victories in the Sanwo-Olu Lagos Active Challenge, an initiative aimed at promoting active lifestyles and well-being among residents.

Organized by the Lagos State Sports Commission, the monthly fitness competition encourages Lagosians to engage in endurance and strength-building activities, with participants receiving exciting prizes for their efforts.

The October edition of the challenge took place across several neighborhoods, including Obanikoro, Ifako Ijaiye, Adekunle, Yaba, Isolo, Agege, and Ebute Metta, drawing thousands of participants. Residents competed in various physical activities testing their stamina, strength, and overall fitness.

Winners were awarded valuable prizes, such as fitness gear, smartwatches, and other wellness-related items—all part of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s vision of fostering a fitness-conscious society.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Lekan Fatodu, Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, commended the participants for their dedication and enthusiasm.

“This initiative is a key part of Governor Sanwo-Olu’s vision to build a healthier and more active Lagos. The excitement we’ve witnessed today reflects the potential and success of the Lagos Active Challenge in motivating people to prioritize their physical health.

“We’re not just giving away prizes; we’re creating a culture where active living and well-being are top priorities,” Fatodu stated.

The Sanwo-Olu Lagos Active Challenge aims to inspire Lagosians of all ages and backgrounds to incorporate vitality into their daily routines.

The monthly event is held across different communities, ensuring fitness opportunities are accessible to everyone. Participants engage in fun yet physically demanding activities, ranging from endurance runs to strength-based exercises.

One of the winners of the October edition, Chidi Okafor, expressed his excitementr after receiving his prize. “I’ve always tried to stay active, but this challenge pushed me beyond my limits. Winning feels incredible, but more importantly, it’s about proving to myself that I can do more.

“The community support was amazing, and I’m grateful to the Lagos State Sports Commission for creating this platform for us,” said Chidi, who received a smartwatch, fitness gear, and a free health check-up.

As the Lagos Active Challenge gains momentum, the Lagos State Sports Commission plans to expand the program, including more communities in future editions.

The commission also intends to introduce new activities and challenges to keep participants engaged and excited about their fitness journey, ensuring that the message of well-being and an active lifestyle reaches every corner of Lagos.
