EXCLUSIVE: Ondo dep gov dares Akeredolu over choice of Ilaje House of Assembly candidate

Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa is daring his boss, Rotimi Akeredolu over a candidate that is not accepted to the governor in Ilaje Local Government Area of the state.

As the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Governor Akeredolu, it was learnt gave his consent and support to Prince Abayomi Akinrutan, the son of Olugbo of Ugboland, Oba Fredrick Akinrutan, to return to the state House of Assembly. 

However, WesternPost gathered that Aiyedatiwa went behind to sponsor another aspirant, Sunday Erukubami against the choice of the governor.

It was further learnt that the deputy governor held a meeting with his political son at his private residence at Alagbaka area of Akure, the state capital. 

WesternPost further gathered that a committee was set up to review the eligibility of the two aspirants who are indigenes of the oil rich Ilaje area of the state.

Despite the fact that the committee concluded that Prince Akinrutan should be considered for the ticket, the deputy governor was alleged to have spurn the decision and gave a marching order to Erukubami to go ahead with the contest. 

Prince Akinrutan is currently a serving member of the state assembly, running his second term as a state legislator and is aiming for a third term if eventually allowed to go ahead in the forthcoming election.

Erukubami has served as councillor in the local government.
