FAAN MD urges public patience as airport service road construction progresses

The Managing Director/Chief Executive of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, has called on the public, particularly road users around Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, to be patient as construction work on operational roads in the area intensifies.

Mrs. Kuku made the appeal during an inspection of ongoing construction between the Toll Gate Plaza and Gate 13, known as the Service Road, on Saturday, October 12.

She expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of the work, emphasizing the importance of cooperation from road users to ensure the timely and efficient completion of the 2.4-kilometer road.

“This road should have been done years ago, but I am glad that we have started it, and we need the full cooperation of all road users and members of the airport community to complete it on time and to the desired specifications,” she stated. Mrs. Kuku also extended her gratitude to the Lagos State Government for its collaboration with FAAN on the project.

“I want to thank the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for partnering with us to ensure the speedy completion of this particular project. This collaboration exemplifies the productive partnerships we are eager to foster at FAAN to enhance the passenger experience,” she added.

Furthermore, she acknowledged the support of the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, for his leadership and guidance, which have been instrumental in maintaining oversight on the project.

The construction work encompasses complete road reconstruction, drainage systems on both sides, sidewalks, and streetlights, with the entire project expected to be completed within nine months.
