Fadahunsi accuses Adeleke of importing violence into Osun East
Says 30 APC members killed within one month
By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
The senator representing Osun East Senatorial District, Francis Fadahunsi, has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of allegedly importing political violence into the district ahead of Saturday’s governorship election, claiming that the development was aimed at intimidating voters.
Addressing a press conference in Osogbo, Fadahunsi also alleged that more than 40 people had been killed in the district within the last year, including 30 APC members in the last month.
He said, “Adeleke created terrorism from Ede into Osun East, the stronghold of APC, for us to be destabilised, so that people will not go out en masse to cast their votes”.
The lawmaker alleged that four people were killed and 16 others injured during the crisis over control of local government administration in Ijesaland. He also referred to the violence in Esa-Oke in April 2025, alleging that four people were killed while 12 others sustained gunshot injuries.
He further alleged that four of his constituents were killed by members of the Amotekun Corps in Akinlalu, while six others sustained critical injuries. He also claimed that 12 APC members were killed within 24 hours in recent attacks, while several others were injured.
Fadahunsi said he had led a protest to the palace of the Owa of Ijesaland, Oba Adesuyi Haastrup, over what he described as politically motivated killings. He urged traditional rulers and security agencies to ensure that voters were not intimidated or prevented from exercising their franchise.
The senator also dismissed Adeleke’s allegations against security agencies and the APC, saying the accusations suggested that the governor was apprehensive about the election.
He urged residents of Osun East to participate in the election, expressing confidence that the APC candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), would win the August 15 governorship election.
