Fadahunsi says he was misrepresented, denies call for killings of Accord members

The lawmaker representing Osun East Senatorial District, Senator Francis Fadahunsi, has denied calling for the killing of Accord Party members and their families, saying his comment in a viral video was edited and deliberately misrepresented.

Fadahunsi, who is the chairman of the Senate Committee on Industries, said he actually stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would retaliate if alleged killings of its members by Accord Party thugs continued.

He said it was disheartening and unacceptable for anyone, especially a responsible political party, to engage in the killing of opposition members.

He said, “My attention has been drawn to an edited video being circulated by Davido on TikTok and Pelumi Olajengbesi on other social media platforms. The video was deliberately edited to distort what I actually said.

“What I said was that if the alleged killing of our party members by Accord Party thugs does not stop, our party will retaliate. I was referring to the continued violence and attacks against our members in Ilesa and other parts of the state”.

He added that he had referred to the killing of one Rogba in Esa-Oke, whom he said was killed by his co-cultists, adding that Governor Ademola Adeleke had referred to the deceased as his son.

Fadahunsi affirmed that his statement was a call for retaliation if the alleged killings continued, insisting that he had been referring to what he described as attacks against APC members in Ilesa and other parts of the state.

The lawmaker alleged that three young men were killed at Kajola Junction, Imo, Ilesa, the previous night, while reports also emerged during preparations for the APC rally in Ilesa that more than eight young people were allegedly killed in the Igbogi area.

He urged eligible voters and residents across Ijesaland to reject violence and remain peaceful during Saturday’s election, saying democracy should not be destroyed by violence.
