Fajuyi blames Oyebanji, INEC for PDP candidate’s omission from 2026 poll

By Boye Oyeyemi –
A former Chairman of Ado Local Government Area in Ekiti State, Mrs Motunde Fajuyi, has accused Governor Biodun Oyebanji and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of plotting to exclude the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Dr Wole Oluyede, from the 2026 election.
Speaking recently on behalf of a pressure group, Ekiti Liberation Agenda, Fajuyi said the omission of Oluyede’s name from INEC’s published list was a calculated political move aimed at preventing him from contesting the June 20 poll.
Addressing journalists in Ado-Ekiti on Monday, she claimed that Oluyede emerged from a credible primary election monitored by INEC officials and questioned why his name was later removed without any official explanation.
She alleged that the exclusion was influenced by the incumbent government, adding that individuals who approached the INEC chairman were told he was “acting on orders” from powerful interests in the state.
Fajuyi linked the controversy to what she described as a pattern of political exclusion, recalling the disqualification of some aspirants during the APC primaries—a situation that prompted her to withdraw from partisan politics.
She said the development led to the formation of the Ekiti Liberation Agenda, which she described as a platform to challenge injustice and defend democratic participation in the state.
The activist called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene urgently, warning that failure to restore Oluyede’s name to the INEC list could escalate political tension ahead of the governorship election.
