Fake police officer arrested in Ogun

A fake police officer, Akinyemi Thomas, 38, has been arrested by men of Ogun State Police Command.
According to a statement signed by Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, CSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the fake cop was apprehended by policemen attached to the Sagamu Divisional Headquarters on routine patrol of their area.
The policemen on patrol, led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Godwin Idehai, sighted the suspect in full police camouflage uniform at under the bridge along Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
Oyeyemi said the fake cop’s conduct raised the suspicion of the policemen who then stopped to question him. Immediately the patrol vehicle stopped, the suspect took to his heels. He was then chased and apprehended.
On interrogation, he confessed being a dismissed policeman but using the uniform to extort unsuspecting members of the public.
Recovered from him aside from the uniform was a police warrant card.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has ordered a full investigation into the activities of the suspect with the view of charging him to court as soon as possible.
