Falconets return from Kigali, relocate to Ibadan for decisive qualifier

The Nigeria U-20 women’s national team, the Falconets, arrived in the country on Monday morning following their 1-0 victory over Rwanda’s She-Amavubi in a 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifying match played on Sunday at the Kigali-Pele Stadium.

Alaba Olabiyi netted the decisive goal with 20 minutes remaining, handing Nigeria a crucial away win and a first-leg advantage ahead of the return fixture scheduled for Saturday, September 28, at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan.

Immediately upon arrival, the players and officials proceeded to the Oyo State capital to continue preparations for the second leg of the tie. The team is in high spirits and fully focused on securing qualification for the third round of the continental qualification series.

In support of the Falconets’ campaign, the Oyo State Government has announced free entry for fans at the Lekan Salami Stadium, encouraging football enthusiasts to attend in large numbers and offer their full support to the team in Saturday’s decisive encounter.
