Family buries late actor Ogogo’s remains in hometown

The Nollywood community has continued to mourn veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as “Ogogo”, who was laid to rest in his hometown, Ilaro, Ogun State.

Family members, friends and well-wishers gathered to pay their final tributes to the late actor at his burial service on Monday.

Videos from the burial captured emotional moments as Ogogo’s close friend and colleague, Yinka Quadri, broke down in tears while mourners consoled him.

Some industry colleagues who attended the funeral included Jide Kosoko, Faithia Balogun, Femi Adebayo, Mr Latin, Ireti Osayemi and Toyosi Adesanya.

Toyosi, a protégé of the late actor, described him in her tribute as a man of integrity, an epitome of simplicity and “one in a million”. She recounted the generosity Ogogo showed her during her years as a trainee at the Odunifa training school.

According to her, Ogogo treated everyone equally and helped pave the way for many actors. She also disclosed that the late actor assisted with the production of her first movie in 2002, alongside Yinka Quadri.

Also paying tribute to the deceased, actor Bola Oyin-Adejobi prayed for Ogogo to attain Al-Jannah Firdaus and asked God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss.

Ogogo died at about 3 p.m. on Sunday at the age of 66. His death was announced by his close associate and veteran actor, Jide Kosoko, on his Instagram page. Kosoko also shared the burial arrangements, stating that the actor’s remains would be taken to Ilaro for a lying-in-state and final burial.
