Fathia Williams announces mother’s death shortly after birthday party

Nollywood actress Fathia Williams, formerly known as Fathia Balogun, has announced the passing of her mother, barely 24 hours after her birthday party.

Breaking the news on her Instagram page on Monday, the actress revealed that her birthday was on Friday, but she chose to host the party on Sunday, unaware that her mother had died on the eve of the celebration—an act she described as “cruelty”.

According to her, the reality of her mother’s death has not fully dawned on her, as she spoke highly of her late mother. However, she said she has taken solace in God Almighty.

She added that the Williams family has decided to keep things private for now and would communicate the burial arrangements later. She also sought prayers from the public during this period.

The actress, who shares the same birthday with her ex-husband, Saheed Balogun, had publicly sent him birthday wishes, while he also commented on her post with goodwill messages.

Fathia Williams’ birthday party was the sensation of the past weekend, with viral videos of captivating moments from the event circulating online, as Nollywood actors and skit makers attended in grand style.
