Faulty fuel gauge deceived stranded Lagos-Ibadan train driver – NRC

The Nigeria Railway Corporation has given the reason a Lagos-bound train stopped midway from its journey from Ibadan on Thursday.
Trending video and pictures had surfaced online on Thursday of a train which “ran out of diesel”, leaving passengers “stranded in a forest”.
Reacting, NRC Managing Director, Fidet Okhiria, said the case was that of an incorrect gauge. He however said the matter was resolved under an hour.
The train gauge had an issue while the engineers thought the diesel in the train tank would take them to Lagos,” Okhiria told NAN.
“The train gauge was not reading correctly, so by the time they started moving, the driver discovered that there is no sufficient diesel in the train.
“Immediately they discovered the challenge, they responded quickly, and under an hour, they were able to get a drum of diesel to fill the tank and continued the journey back to Lagos,” he added.
