The governor said the event was to celebrate their contribution to the success in the fight against COVID-19 in the state.
He also said that the state had achieved 37 per cent COVID-19 vaccination of its population.
“We hosted members of Ekiti COVID-19 Response Resource Mobilization Committee (RRMC) to a dinner and award presentation in Lagos to celebrate their selfless contribution to the success recorded by our state in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The Committee was set up in the wake of the pandemic to mobilise resources to support our administration’s effort to curtail the spread of COVID-19 infection in the state. The Committee also implemented over 30 different projects and initiatives across the state, and mobilized resources toward providing relief to support the livelihood of those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I am pleased to share that 37 percent of our population have been vaccinated and we now have a vaccination capacity rate of 13,500 eligible persons per day and 17 functional Emergency Operations Centres (EOCs), spread across the state to strengthen our capacity to quickly discover and respond to health emergency.
“Our efforts towards building a viable health sector yielded positive outcomes with the refurbishment of 14 high burden General and state Specialist Hospitals, resuscitation of our state’s dental and ophthalmology centers, construction of new intensive care unit (ICU), new public health laboratory, and new Sexual Assault Referral Center (SARC).
“I would like to thank our Grand Patron, Aare Afe Babalola (SAN), RRMC Chairman, Prince Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi, Past Governors, Patrons, and other members of the Committee, as well as Sir Remi Omotoso and Senator Gbenga Aluko for their priceless contribution and sacrifice which placed Ekiti State far and above other states in the management of the dreaded disease.
“As our administration draws to a close, we are confident that we are leaving behind a legacy of impactful programmes in the health sector and we are assured that the incoming government will continue in the tradition of improvements to both our human resource and health infrastructure,” Fayemi said.
