Fayemi inaugurates committees for smooth handover in Ekiti

Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi on Tuesday inaugurated Transition and Advisory Committees that will ensure smooth handover of power to the next administration in the state.

While inaugurating the committees in his office at Ado-Ekiti, the governor recalled that he signed the Transition Law 3 years ago to ensure successor government does not abandon the programmes and projects of predecessors and to ensure the resources of the state are not wasted on abandoned projects.

Governor Fayemi will complete his second tenure in October when he will handover to his hand picked successor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji who won the last governorship election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.

“Three years ago, I signed the Ekiti State Transition Bill into law, to prevent the state government from abandoning projects initiated by past administrations. This law is aimed at checking the wanton abandonment of projects simply because they were not initiated by the incumbent and to avoid successive governments from abandoning government projects.

“In line with the State Transition Law, 2019, I inaugurated the Transition Committee and an Advisory Council, following the election of Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji as governor-elect.

“The Transition Committee. would among other tasks, study the state of affairs of the present administration, review the programmes and projects of MDAs and map out strategies for a smooth transition from the incumbent to the incoming government. The Advisory Council would address unresolved issues,” Fayemi said.
