FCTA partners private firms to transform Jabi Lake into recreational hub

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has signed development agreements with Suburban Broadband Limited and Akida Hills Limited to transform Jabi Lake into a world-class recreational hub in the heart of Abuja.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike described Abuja as a rapidly developing city with great potential for recreation but noted that progress had been hampered by land speculators holding undeveloped plots.
He warned that “it is no longer business as usual for those hoarding and speculating on government land,” adding that individuals or companies granted land for development must complete their projects within six months, or risk having their land revoked.
Representing Suburban Broadband Limited, Mr Pankaj Khandelwal said the agreement marked a landmark for the organisation. He added that the project would drive socioeconomic growth and create employment opportunities in the FCT.
Mr Bamisile Olukayode, representing Akida Hills Limited, commended the FCT Minister for his developmental vision.
He described the Jabi Lake project as “exciting,” promising that it would rival international attractions such as New York’s Times Square and the Dubai Fountain Water Show.
Olukayode assured that the project would position Abuja among world-class cities globally and is slated for completion before the end of the year.
