The “Fearless in October” protest, organized by the Coalition of Concerned Nigerian Citizens, took place in Osun State on Tuesday as protesters expressed their discontent with current government policies.
The protesters, who initially gathered at the Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, moved through Old Garage, Oke Fia, Dele Yes Sir, and ended at Olaiya Junction.
Security operatives from the Nigerian Police, DSS, Civil Defence, NDLEA, and the Correctional Service accompanied the protesters to prevent any breakdown of law and order.
Adetunji Ajala, Coordinator of the Coalition of Concerned Nigerian Citizens, stated that the protest aimed to exercise the rights of citizens to express their concerns and dissatisfaction.
Ajala said, “The essence of this protest is to tell the Government that we are not happy with its policies.
“We were able to achieve our objective peacefully because there was no looting, no burning of tires, and no attacks on anyone or property.
“We exercised our rights as citizens of this country, and the people who participated behaved well, as did the security agencies.”
Ajala welcomed the proposed 30-day National Youth Conference but emphasized the need for genuine representation and action.
He added that the coalition, as the major recognized body for the protest, is concluding the event today, stating it is a one-day event.
Also speaking, a representative of the Take It Back Movement, Sunday Oguntola, stressed that the protest was not politically motivated but aimed at highlighting the hardships faced by citizens.
He noted that despite the EndBadGovernance protest in August, the Government has yet to address the issues affecting Nigerians.
