FEC approves ₦43bn for Ilorin–Omu Aran–Egbe Road reconstruction in Kwara
The Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday approved ₦43 billion for the reconstruction of the Ilorin–Omu Aran–Egbe Road in Kwara State, less than a month after Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, inspected the newly-approved 42.6km Eiyenkorin–Afon–Ojoku–Offa Road, facilitated by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq under the Federal Government’s Tax Credit Scheme.
Speaking to journalists after the FEC meeting, Umahi stated that the first phase of the project will cover 31 kilometres of the 207-kilometre corridor. He emphasized that the road will feature a full concrete pavement to ensure durability and long-term sustainability.
The approval comes on the heels of Governor AbdulRazaq’s recent flag-off of the 15.1km Ojoku–Ilemona Road, further strengthening infrastructural development across the state.
The Ilorin–Omu Aran–Egbe Road is a key transport artery linking several communities in Kwara South and extending to Okunland in neighbouring Kogi State.
It serves as a crucial economic and transportation corridor, facilitating the movement of residents, commuters, and goods.
