FG allocates N3bn to support Super Eagles’ 2026 World Cup bid

The Nigerian government has allocated three billion Naira to the newly formed Presidential Support Group (PSG), which will oversee the Super Eagles’ campaign to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
This funding, included in the country’s 2025 budget, will provide financial, administrative, and logistical support to the national team as they aim to revive their faltering qualification efforts.
Currently, the Super Eagles are in a challenging position, sitting second from bottom in Group C with just three points from four matches.
Rwanda, South Africa, and Benin lead the group with seven points each. Only the winners of each group will automatically qualify for the World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
The Super Eagles will resume their qualification campaign in March, traveling to Rwanda to face the group leaders before returning home to play bottom-ranked Zimbabwe.
