FG defends Tinubu’s record, says all regions treated fairly

The Federal Government has dismissed claims of lopsided development under President Bola Tinubu, insisting that his administration has been guided by fairness, justice, and equity in distributing federal projects, appointments, and opportunities.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, stated this at a press briefing on Sunday, stressing that no region of the country is being sidelined in the implementation of the government’s development agenda.

“Contrary to insinuations and misinformation, President Tinubu’s leadership has demonstrated uncommon commitment to balanced development and inclusivity,” Idris said.

Data on Projects Across Regions
According to government records, the Northwest has received the largest share of project approvals at ₦5.97 trillion, representing over 40 percent of total allocations. Other regions received: South-South (₦2.41 trillion), North-Central (₦1.13 trillion), Southeast (₦407 billion), Northeast (₦400 billion), and Southwest excluding Lagos (₦604 billion).

These include the 1,068 km Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway, the 750 km Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway, and the rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt–Maiduguri rail corridor. The government has also secured ₦250 billion in funding for light rail projects in Kano and Kaduna, while metro lines in Lagos and Ogun are underway.

Appointments and Development Commissions
The minister said President Tinubu has ensured equitable federal appointments, guided by competence and national balance. He also noted the creation of five Regional Development Commissions and a new Federal Ministry of Livestock Development as evidence of inclusive governance.
