..warns public against fraudulent claims

The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has dismissed claims that it authorised a private firm to handle the sale of 753 houses seized by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from former Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele.

In a statement issued on Saturday by its Director of Press and Public Relations, Badamasi S. Haiba, the ministry warned the public not to fall victim to fraudsters, stressing that no company or consultant has been given the right to coordinate the sale of the properties.

The disclaimer followed reports that Pink Synergy Global Company Limited had been writing to individuals and organisations, soliciting the purchase of “expression of interest” forms to buy the houses. A letter from the company, signed by its Chief Executive, Yashim Kejang, claimed it was appointed as the official auctioneer for the sale.

“For the avoidance of doubt, no sale of the 753 housing units has commenced by the ministry,” Haiba stated. “The public will be duly informed with clear announcements on the sale process as directed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

The ministry advised Nigerians to verify all information through its Departments of Public Building and Housing Development, and Press and Public Relations, before committing any funds.
