FG mandates foreign airlines to patronise local caterers for out-bound flights on-board meals

The Federal Government on Tuesday mandated foreign airlines to patronise local caterers for out-bound flights on-board meals.
Director overseeing office of the permanent secretary, Ejibunu FInstta in a signed statement on behalf of the acting director general, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) in a statement said“l am directed by the minister of aviation, Mr Festus Keyamo to convey to you his decision to mandate all out-board flights, from Nigeria, especially foreign airlines to patronise local caterers for on-board meals.
“Consequently, you are hereby directed to convey the decision to all foreign airlines for strict compliance beginning from January 1, 2025.”
For the umpteenth time, foreign airlines have been told to patronise indigenous catering services when operating flight services out of Nigeria in compliance with the Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA) arrangement the country signed with their governments.
Apart from being in line with the BASA signed with the Government of Qatar and the principle of reciprocity, Keyamo had also said that this would contribute to the Nigeria’s economy.
