Represented by Dr. Bala Yusuf Yunusa, Senior Technical Advisor at the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs (OSSAP-SDGs), Orelope-Adefulire highlighted the immense potential of Nigerian youth, stressing that harnessing their creativity and innovation is key to national development.
She commended the Osun State Government for its commitment to SDG implementation, particularly in linking the creative economy to sustainable development.
“The Nigerian government has demonstrated strong commitment to the overall implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
What is happening in Osun is a subnational initiative aimed at leveraging the potential of the creative economy to drive SDG achievement. We must commend the Osun State Government for its dedication to this cause.
Nigeria’s youth possess enormous potential. With a youthful population, we must harness creativity and innovation to unlock opportunities in the creative economy, which can generate employment, foster decent work, and empower young people to reach their full potential.”
In his remarks, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to achieving the SDGs by 2030, emphasizing that creativity and innovation are essential for building a sustainable future.
Adeleke announced the launch of the Osun State Content Creation Studio, a collaborative initiative with the private sector that will serve as a hub for creators. The studio is designed to provide tools, resources, and spaces for filmmakers, digital storytellers, fashion designers, musicians, and other creatives.
“This initiative will empower creatives to tell their stories, amplify their voices, and develop innovative solutions to societal challenges,” Adeleke stated.
