FG partners MyCityApp, unveils 100-day national tourism season

The Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy has partnered with MyCityApp, a digital tourism and events discovery platfor, to launch “Ember to Remember 2026”, a 100-day national tourism season scheduled to run from September to December.

The initiative is aimed at bringing together Nigeria’s cultural, tourism, entertainment, hospitality, transportation and creative economy activities under a coordinated national programme.

The Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, announced the initiative on Monday in Abuja, saying it would be formally launched and its national calendar unveiled at the Ember to Remember National Stakeholders Conference on September 14 at Eko Hotel, Lagos.

Speaking at a press conference at Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, Musawa said the initiative was designed to change the way Nigeria presents and markets its tourism potential, noting that the country’s festivals, food, music, fashion, heritage and hospitality offered year-round opportunities.

“What has been missing is a deliberate structure that brings these experiences together, gives them visibility, and allows us to market them as one powerful national story. That is what Ember to Remember seeks to achieve,” the minister said.

The Chief Executive Officer of MyCityApp, Ifeoma Mbonu, said the platform would power the National Digital Events and Experiences Calendar, enabling Nigerians, members of the diaspora and international visitors to discover events and experiences across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Mbonu urged event organisers nationwide to upload their events through the MyCityApp platform, saying the initiative would create economic opportunities for airlines, hotels, transport operators, restaurants, retailers and other local businesses by connecting visitors with tourism and entertainment activities.
