The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation has extended its condolences to the people of Borno State and Governor Babagana Zulum following the devastating floods that have disrupted socio-economic activities in the state.
A delegation led by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Abel Enitan, visited Maiduguri to express sympathy for the victims of the disaster.
During the visit, Enitan conveyed the Ministry’s deep sorrow over the impact of the floods on lives, livelihoods, and the state’s development efforts. He also prayed for the quick recovery of those affected and for the repose of the souls lost in the incident.
“We hope such a devastating incident never happens again in Borno State or anywhere else in our nation,” Enitan said, reaffirming the Ministry’s commitment to supporting the flood victims. He announced that the Ministry is working with partners to mobilize and deploy humanitarian aid to alleviate the suffering of those affected.
Enitan further stated that the Ministry will collaborate with other relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to develop long-term solutions to flooding caused by overflowing dams in the region.
In response, Governor Zulum expressed gratitude on behalf of the people of Borno State, thanking the Federal Government and the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs for standing by the state during such a challenging time.
