FG ranks Kogi governor most compliant in solid minerals sector

The Federal Government has named Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State as the most compliant state executive in Nigeria’s solid minerals sector.
This recognition was announced by the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake, during the Africa Natural Resources and Energy Investment Summit (AFNIS), held Thursday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Dr. Alake commended Governor Ododo for his strong commitment to regulatory compliance, institutional reform, and responsible governance within the solid minerals industry. He emphasized that such leadership is critical to the federal government’s agenda of repositioning the mining sector as a cornerstone of national economic diversification.
“Kogi State has shown exceptional alignment with the Federal Government’s roadmap for the mining industry,” Alake said. “Governor Ododo exemplifies purposeful leadership, and his administration’s policy direction is a model for others to follow.”
Representing the Governor at the summit, Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr. Bashir Muhammad Abubakar, presented the state’s strategic outlook for mining sector development. He highlighted Kogi’s dedication to regulatory transparency, investor engagement, and value addition.
According to Abubakar, Kogi State has created a business-friendly environment through seamless regulatory processes aimed at attracting investment and driving growth. He also spotlighted the “Mines to Market” initiative — a value-chain development programme designed to promote local processing of minerals, create jobs, and boost internal revenue.
He also extended appreciation to Minister Alake for his reform efforts and to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continued support to Kogi State, particularly in infrastructure and mining. The commissioner reaffirmed the state’s openness to partnerships in technology transfer, capacity building, and sustainable development.
The state’s presentation drew praise from industry stakeholders, who applauded Kogi’s strategic vision, responsible mining framework, and readiness to welcome investors under a transparent governance model.
