The Federal Government has called for collaboration with the South African government to ensure the certification of geologists and other professionals in Nigeria.

This appeal was made by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Amb. Bianca Ojukwu, during her opening remarks as Co-chair of the Ministerial Meeting of the 11th Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission (BNC), held in Cape Town, South Africa, on Monday.

Ojukwu, highlighting the robust relationship between the two nations since the establishment of the BNC in 1999, urged participants to address all matters on the agenda with enthusiasm and mutual trust.

Speaking on the proposed collaboration, the Minister stated:
“We are seeking collaboration with South Africa in capacity development, particularly in the certification of geologists and other professionals.

“To this end, we have prepared Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) for South Africa’s consideration, emphasizing that the benefits of this arrangement will significantly enhance the capacity of our mining professionals to compete globally. As noted earlier, this initiative holds immense promise for the future of Nigeria-South Africa relations.”
