FG partners global platform SOOP to strengthen nation’s digital creative ecosystem

The Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SOOP Co. Ltd, a global leader in live-streaming and digital content, to enhance Nigeria’s digital creative industry.
The development was disclosed by the Honourable Minister, Barrister Hannatu Musa Musawa, in a post on Tuesday via the X platform (formerly Twitter). She noted that the agreement, facilitated by the African International Film Festival (AFRIFF), aims to empower Nigerian digital content creators through the local launch of SOOP’s global platform and the development of essential infrastructure for large-scale content production.
SOOP Co. Ltd, formerly operating as AfreecaTV, has rebranded and now serves a worldwide audience under the SOOP name. The platform enables content creators to stream, share, and connect with global audiences in real time.

With the launch of SOOP’s operations in Nigeria, local creators will gain new opportunities to monetize their content, diversify income streams, and engage with international markets. This move also aligns with the Ministry’s broader strategy to drive economic expansion through the creative sector.
“The Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy and SOOP Co. Ltd will work together on cultural exchange programs and co-productions to build stronger collaboration between our nations,” she wrote.

The Honourable Minister described the agreement as a milestone for the creative industry and reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to fostering innovation, job creation, and global visibility for Nigerian talent.
Further updates on the rollout and implementation of the partnership will be communicated in due course by the Ministry and its partners.
