Nigeria’s senior women national side, the Super Falcons have retained their first position as Africa’s best female team.

The Nigerian side will end the year as Africa’s number one after World’s football governing body, FIFA released its latest rankings on Friday.

However, the Falcons maintain their 36th position in the world.

Nigeria’s rating was based on the country’s three international friendlies played in the period under review.

The Falcons defeated Algeria twice (2-0) and (4-1), respectively in Ikenne and Lagos.

Interim coach Justine Madugu’s team, however, lost 2-1 to Les Bleues of France last month.

Trailing Nigeria in second position in Africa are South Africa’s Banyana Banyana.

Morocco, Zambia, and Ghana in that order round off the continent’s top five national women’s team.
