FIFA U-20 World Cup: Flying Eagles’ group foes to be unveiled Thursday

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles will know their group-stage opponents on Thursday when FIFA conducts the official draw for the U-20 World Cup, to be held in Chile.
The Nigerian side secured qualification for the tournament after reaching the semi-finals of the recently concluded Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in Egypt, where they claimed the bronze medal.
The Flying Eagles will hoist Africa’s flag at the championship alongside Morocco, Egypt, and eventual champions South Africa.
The draw is scheduled to take place in Santiago, the capital of Chile.
The Flying Eagles have twice reached the final of the U-20 World Cup — in 1989 and 2005 — losing on both occasions to Portugal and Argentina, respectively.
The Nigerians will aim to go one step further by clinching the trophy this time around.
