A final-year student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo (RUGIPO), identified as Arobo Precious, has reportedly taken his own life.
The 28-year-old Higher National Diploma (HND) II student was found dead in a bush near his residence around 9 p.m., a discovery that has left the Owo community and fellow students in mourning.
Sources disclosed that before his death, Precious posted a video on social media suggesting emotional distress linked to a failed romantic relationship.
The video, which has since gone viral, featured a sorrowful caption: “Eniayewu Opeyemi was the one who got me into this. People say there is still life out there, but to me, there is nothing anymore.”

A source close to the family, speaking under anonymity, confirmed that Precious had already been buried. “His parents are devastated by the loss. Precious was truly a good person,” the source said.
The tragic incident has cast a shadow over the polytechnic campus, with students expressing shock and heartbreak over the sudden loss of their colleague.
Many described him as quiet and easy-going, making the news of his death even more difficult to comprehend.
As of the time of this report, the school management has yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
