Final-year student dies before exam at Federal Polytechnic, Ede

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
The Federal Polytechnic, Ede in Osun State was engulfed in sorrow on Wednesday following the sudden death of a final-year student, Kolawole Zainab, who collapsed while preparing for her examination.
Zainab, a Higher National Diploma (HND) II student in the Department of Quantity Surveying and a mother of three, reportedly slumped just before her first-semester exam scheduled to begin at 12 noon.
She was promptly taken to the institution’s Medical Centre, where medical personnel confirmed her death upon arrival.
A fellow student, who preferred to remain anonymous, revealed that the incident deeply affected her classmates. She added that it was uncertain whether the scheduled examination proceeded, given that Zainab collapsed shortly before the exam was to start.
The Acting Director of Information, Protocol, and Public Relations at the Polytechnic, Mr. Sola Lawal, confirmed the tragic event.
Mr. Lawal stated, “It is true that one of our students, Kolawole Zainab, an HND II student, was brought to the school medical centre already deceased.”
The institution has since extended condolences to the family and fellow students as it mourns the loss of one of its own.
