Financial stability, character key in marriage decisions, Pastor Adeboye tells women

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has advised young women to prioritise financial stability and character over religious performance when choosing a life partner.

He gave the advice during the May edition of the Holy Ghost Service, where he stressed that spiritual expressions should not be placed above practical considerations such as employment and responsibility.

Adeboye advised women to carefully assess the livelihood of prospective suitors before marriage, noting that inability to provide could affect family stability.

Citing biblical principles, he referenced the account of Adam in Genesis to stress the importance of work before marriage.

He also warned against being deceived by outward charm or persuasive speech, urging women to exercise discernment in their choices.

“If he says I am a contractor, ask him to give you evidence of the contract he had executed before. Otherwise, you will be the contract,” Adeboye said.

The cleric further counseled women to verify claims made by suitors and ensure they uphold moral and spiritual discipline. He cautioned that men who profess faith but struggle with moral conduct should be avoided in marriage decisions.

Adeboye urged women to prioritise wisdom and careful judgement in selecting life partners to ensure stable homes.
