By Boye Oyeyemi –
A night fire razed not less than ten shops opposite the main gate of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, on Thursday.
The blaze, which started around 10pm, destroyed goods and valuables worth millions of naira before help could arrive.

One of the affected traders, who identified himself simply as Prince, lamented his losses.
He said, “I repair laptops, and over 400 laptops in my shop have been burnt to ashes. I don’t know what to do; the laptops and my tools are all gone.”

Another victim said, “Before we got here yesterday, the shops had already been razed. We lost four deep freezers and drinks and others. We’ve others who sell phones too here.”
Eyewitnesses said the fire spread rapidly across the row of shops, leaving owners stranded and helpless.
A source, who asked not to be named, attributed the incident to an electrical spark.
