An early morning fire on Monday destroyed properties worth millions of naira at a residential building in Ayeyewa Compound, Towobowo Anko, Eruwa, Oyo State.
The fire reportedly raged for over an hour before officials of the Oyo State Fire Service were contacted.
Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the incident in a statement, noting that no lives were lost.
According to Akinwande, the agency received a distress call at exactly 03:08 a.m. on May 19, 2025.
Fire personnel, led by ACFS Adegoke, were immediately deployed to the scene and found a private residential building with six rooms and a boys’ quarters already engulfed in flames.
He stated that the firemen acted swiftly to prevent the blaze from spreading to nearby structures.
“Unfortunately, the fire had been burning for more than an hour before the Fire Service was called. No casualty was recorded, but properties worth millions were destroyed,” Akinwande said.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
