Fire engulfs two-storey building in Ojo Alaba
Fire has engulfed a two-storey building comprising six units of three bedroom flats in Mosafejo-Ojo-Alaba area of Lagos State.
Eyewitnesses said the fire incident occurred at about 10:30am Wednesday morning before a distress call was made to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).
Although, no casualty nor injury was recorded but the fire completely consumed one out of the six units of three bed room flats resulting in loss running into millions of naira.
Confirming the incident, the Spokesman for LASEMA, Nosa Okunbor, in a statement, said that the fire started in the kitchen of the front flat at the topmost floor of the building before spreading to other parts.
He added that the cause of the fire was unknown.
The statement read in part, “Following distress calls to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, via the 767/112 Toll-Free Emergency lines at 1052hrs, the Agency activated it’s Dolphin Response Team from the Igando Base.
“On arrival at the incident scene, it was observed that a two-storey building comprising of six units of three bedroom flats, was engulfed in fire at the aforementioned location.
“Further investigations revealed that the fire which cause could not-yet-be ascertained, reportedly started in the kitchen of the front flat at the topmost floor of the building before spreading to other parts.
“Quick intervention of the LRT and LASG Fire & Rescue Team at the scene, the fire was quickly curtailed from spreading to other parts of the building.
“No casualties nor injuries were recorded during the incident.
“The fire completely consumed one out of the six units of three bed room flats resulting in loss running into millions of naira.
“The fire has been totally extinguished due to quick intervention of the LRT, and Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.
“Dampening down has been concluded. Operation concluded. LRT headed back to Base”.
