First Ladies from various continents are engaging in high-level discussions on conflict resolution, youth empowerment, and the future impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) at the ongoing Third Annual Global First Partners Academy in New York.
The event, now in its second day, featured a keynote address by Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who called for a united global resolve to actively shape the future by investing in youth and promoting innovative solutions to shared challenges.
Speaking on the theme “First Partners’ Role in the World: Preparing the Youth for the Future,” Senator Tinubu emphasized the need for proactive leadership in the face of rapid technological and societal changes.

“Across continents, we face a common challenge of a rapidly evolving global landscape,” she said. “Whether in Lagos, London, or Los Angeles, the future is being shaped by technology, innovation, climate change, migration, and new economic paradigms.”
Describing First Ladies as non-partisan influencers and maternal figures in both national and global contexts, she highlighted their moral obligation to lead initiatives that empower youth and foster inclusive development.
“I have seen first-hand how building mental capacity, reshaping mindsets, and nurturing self-belief can transform lives,” she noted, adding that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, alongside her own Renewed Hope Initiative, is committed to creating opportunities for young Nigerians.

Quoting Abraham Lincoln’s words, “The best way to predict the future is to create it,” Tinubu added, “We must meet the youth where they are—whether in the digital space, the creative industry, or in conversations around climate action and governance.”
She also stressed the importance of scholarships, mentorships, internships, and civic participation as essential tools for youth engagement.
